Select any star on the map to reveal the woman behind it and her contribution to space history.
Drag to navigate across the star map and explore different regions of the cosmos.
Each star is linked to a real woman — astronaut, mathematician, engineer — who helped shape space exploration.
For decades, the names written in history books have been predominantly male. Yet behind every mission, every calculation, every breakthrough — women were there.
Star Her exists to change that narrative. By mapping real women to real stars, we give them a permanent place in the cosmos they helped us reach. From Katherine Johnson's orbital calculations to Mae Jemison's historic flight, their stories deserve to shine as brightly as the stars themselves.
The universe has always belonged to everyone. It's time the history did too.
Star Her is an interactive 3D simulation built with Unity, created during MariHacks 2026. It combines a real star catalog with the stories of women who have made historic contributions to space science and exploration.
Star data is sourced from the HYG Star Database, a catalog of over 100,000 stars. Women's profiles are researched from NASA archives, ESA records, and verified biographical sources.
